![]() ![]() Streaming works by just having what would normally go to the computer screen instead go to the phone's screen, as well as having what normally would come from the mouse come from the phone. The final hurdle though would be to actually make a version of the games run on android/ios/ubuntu/whatever. A phone playing CK2 on battery can probably expect less than an hour of play time though as well as getting pretty damn hot. I think that if you were to shut off all non-critical tasks on a high-end phone, as well as have it plugged into an outlet, that you just might be able to play CK2 on speed 2 or 3. It definitely could be done, but a lot of source code would have to be modified to be able to interact with such a different input method.Īs for processing power, I was actually surprised when I checked that you can buy phones that have a few gigabytes of ram. Touch screens work by "listening" to where on the screen there is currently pressure/heat/conductivity, and "activating" whatever it knows to be on the part of the screen where the touch was done. Mice work by having a process that "listens" for movements every few nanoseconds, moving the cursor pixel by pixel in response to movement (It all happens pretty fast from a user's perspective though). If paradox games were open source (definitely not going to happen though), and someone had a lot of free time, maybe the games themselves could be optimized to be played with a touch screen. I think that having better "mouse" movements using a touch screen isn't too crazy an idea, but beyond that I don't think much can be done. So I decided to share it here, maybe it's good enough for some of you, or maybe we finally get to play the ultimate strategy games on our phones thanks to all the modders in here. Maybe if with this post I get to raise some awareness, some computer wizard will find a way to overcome this problems either by adding a mod to the game (modifying the UI, adding buttons and all that jazz) or getting in touch with the Moonlight developing community to improve the mouse controls. I know the Paradox community is versed and very capable on the modding, scripting and programming field. I'm sure I'm not alone on this.Īnyways, TMI aside, the bad news is that the touchscreen mouse control is clunky (the mouse does not go to your fingertip, but it's dragged around the screen right clicking seem fairly challenging, working only sometimes etc.) you are unable to zoom in (at least I don't know how), UI is on the smaller side and there's no easy to press pause button (due the mouse limitations and no space bar). I would rather not have to stop playing when having to take a shit. This is great as I would love to play games when not sitting at my desk. It runs pretty smoothly (after all, the PC is doing all the heavy lifting) and I was able to play a little bit. After fiddling a bit with it, I was able to run CKII on my phone. ![]()
